Dr. Brown is a dynamic teacher and lecturer who describes the complex nature of ADD and its medical causes in a clear and understandable way, with vivid examples from everyday life of children, adolescents and adults. He specializes in explaining the complex overlap of ADD with learning disorders and a wide variety of psychiatric disorders such as depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and Asperger's disorder.
In his presentations to parents and teachers, Dr. Brown highlights practical information about how to recognize and effectively intervene for ADD symptoms with other disorders of learning, emotion or behavior in children and adolescents. He is especially interested in the overlap between ADD and reading disorder, math disorder, and disorder of written expression as well as overlap between ADHD and Asperger's Disorder.
For medical and mental health professionals Dr. Brown's lectures and workshop presentations provide examples of how ADD can be recognized in clinical practice. He presents scientifically based and updated information about medication treatments for ADD and also explains how behavioral treatments can be tailored to address ADD-related behavior problems in children. For practitioners with advanced understanding of ADD, Dr. Brown offers guidelines for assessment and treatment of complex cases involving multiple comorbid disorders.
He has lectured and taught continuing professional education workshops for the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Psychiatric Association, the American Psychological Association, the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, the National Association of School Psychologists, the American College of Nurse Practitioners, and for a wide variety of hospitals, medical schools, colleges, universities, public school systems, independent schools, and other organizations within and outside the U.S. Organizations interested in arranging such a presentation can email Dr. Brown using the contact us link on this website.
